Maps all day, followed by an 8-10 HiattChat shift. Was out from 9 AM to 10 PM. So zonked. Remember a few weeks ago I mentioned that there would be an installation at the Ronchini Gallery of these clouds by Bernharjjk Sminlsdjsnkj? So I decided to go today! I was so excited to spontaneously leave the studio and see some clouds. I get to the gallery only to find that there were no physical 3D clouds, only the pictures I saw online. Words cannot express my disappointment and let down. And then I dropped my last bite of pineapple on the street. And then thanks to the KLBD facebook group where you can post kosher related inquiries, I learned that the Cadbury Caramel Bunnies are not kosher. It was a hard day. And then I ate 3 Cadbury bars (small size).
When I got back, my flat-mate, Kristina, dropped by the studio to interview me. She’s taking a documentary film class and needs to interview people to learn camera techniques and thought I’d be an interesting subject. Huzzah!
Then I made some more maps and one of the tutors, Kieren, came over to me and asked if I’d like to participate in a cross-area seminar (critique). My instinct was to shy away but then I realized that I didn’t come all this way for shying away so I asked what it entailed. Basically, three students from sculpture, 3 from media, three from painting and a tutor or two from each department. Every student gets 20 minutes of attention for discussion and explanation and inspiration, etc. I decided to do it. I’d meet people, I’d think out loud, I’d see what other people in other disciplines were up to and that seemed like a good idea. I’ll discuss it in full when I get to Wednesday. Really, maps all day long. When I got tired of cutting maps (my fingers were quite sore) I got back into embroidering my Tube map. So into it, in fact, that I finished the whole thing. I love it.I can’t wait to see what it inspires next. Maybe something in a larger scale…Then HiattChat in the freezing cold studio (no wifi at home til Friday) and then I went to bed.
