Saturday, April 14, 2013: Never magnificent.

Slept til quite late as there was no shul to be on time to. After kiddish/breakfast/lunch I went on a 3 hour and 15 minute walk in the rain along the coast. Full of contemplation, ocean spray and daffodils.

What a walk. Those sights. There’s just so much pretty in the world. Also, being near the ocean makes you feel absolutely powerless. You are nothing. And everything. But next to the ocean, nothing.

And then I got back to my room and collapsed in exhaustion and bliss and woke up 3 hours later.

Unrelated: Earlier in the day, when I was eating breakfast/kiddish/lunch Bridget was in the kitchen and playing music. And guess what song came on? That song by the Shangri-Las! From Elizabeth Price’s Turner Prize winning film! Ah!

I had finished Paper Towns by John Green earlier in the day. Good book, great characters, beautifully written. Just thought the overall plot was kind of dumb. But it’s about high schoolers so it’s forgivable. I started The Red House by Mark Haddon, author of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. So far so good. I bought it for the cover and title. I don’t read the backs of books. And it didn’t hurt that he also wrote a book I read and loved.

So I read until Shabbos ended and then went back to the Harbour Inn, my WiFi haven. I’ve never had so many drinks in one week. I don’t even like it. But I like Wifi. And I like What’s App. And so does Biebs. So there.
